In 2010 I conducted a communication and organizational effectiveness audit of non-profit arts organization – referred to as “Non-profit X” or “NPX.” Using ethnographic observation, individual interviews with top management, and surveys, I sought to determine how NPX’s structure and communication practices affected new member recruitment and support of its initiatives.
