In Fall 2021, I took a course on Strategic Power Building with Communities. One assignment we did was an organizing exemplar project. We each selected an organizer or an organizing campaign and either did a presentation or a paper on our selection. I chose a presentation (most of us did!), and I chose to do my presentation on the Poor People’s Campaign. Over the last few years I had learned a little about Reverend Dr. William Barber, II, and the work they were doing and really appreciated their southern roots. I love the idea of liberation rising from the South as well as other places.
